Spend the day learning the traditional craft of basket weaving. In this hands-on workshop, you’ll work step by step through the weaving process and finish with a basket you’ve made yourself. It’s a practical skill, a creative outlet, and a rewarding way to spend the day.
What is Basket Weaving?
Basket weaving is one of the oldest crafts in the world — a way of turning simple, flexible materials into something strong, useful, and beautiful. The fun thing about this class is each basket will be truly your own!
During this workshop, you’ll learn the fundamentals of basket weaving and experience the satisfaction of shaping natural materials into a finished basket. You’ll enjoy the process of slowing down, learning each step, and seeing your project come together.
What to Expect
This workshop is designed for all skill levels. You don’t need to be artistic or crafty — basket weaving is something anyone can learn. You’ll be guided through each step of the process, from working with the materials to shaping and finishing your basket. By the end of the day, you’ll head home with a completed basket and the know-how to keep practicing if you’d like.
You’ll be guided through the process of:
- Sourcing, preparing and working with weaving materials
- Learning foundational weaving techniques
- Building structure and strength into your basket
