Opportunity: Education & Outreach Assistant – Summer Student Position

The Eagle Point – Blue Rapids Parks Council is a local non-profit, community-based organization that manages, operates, and promotes Eagle Point Provincial Park and Blue Rapids Provincial Recreation Area.

The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing our outreach initiatives and will assist with delivery of our spring and summer environmental and outdoor education programs to community and school groups. Our ideal candidate will have the following skills or assets:

  • Enthusiastic, positive attitude towards people and nature
  • Able to assist in developing and delivering Environmental and Outdoor Education programs to all ages (from preschool to adult)
  • Experience working with young children and/or youth
  • Experience in event planning
  • Knowledgeable about native plants and animals
  • Knowledgeable about outdoor activities (fire lighting, camp skills, navigation, etc.)
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Standard First Aid certification (not required, but is an asset)
  • Current valid Alberta driver’s license
  • Familiar with website and social media platform management

Post-secondary students planning to return to school in a related fields, including Education, Communications or Environmental/Biological Science programs are encouraged to apply.

Hours, Wage and Start Date:

This full-time summer position is 35 hours per week and pays $20/hour.

  • Start Date: May 3, 2023
  • End Date: August 23, 2023
