Rotary-Pembina Nordic Outdoor Education Centre Becoming a Reality!

This week, we’re excited to share the Pembina Nordic Club’s updates about the new Rotary-Pembina Outdoor Education Centre and their club events!

Education Centre News…

Construction on this two story facility started October 3, 2018.  Some delays to start up were due to wait times for some of the building permits, but the foundation is poured, the walls are up and the roof trusses are going on this week! Next week should see the metal roofing installed if the weather cooperates. The plumbing, electrical and interior finishing will be completed by March and we anticipate that the building will be open for the start on the spring outdoor education season in April, 2019!

The Education Centre will host school and community outdoor and environmental education programs offered by the Eagle Point Blue Rapids Parks Council, the Nordic Club’s own programs, and a wide variety of other recreational and outdoor program for all ages.  It will also support the growing number of regional and provincial level sporting and recreation events using the Rotary –  Pembina Nordic Community Trails Systems for Nordic skiing, cycling, hiking, running, snowshoeing, orienteering and other outdoor pursuits.

Donations Help Make a Dream Come True

Thanks to the major contributions by Platinum sponsors – Rotary Club of Drayton Valley,  Alberta Parks, Brazeau County, Community Facility Enhancement Program of Government of Alberta, Town of Drayton Valley and to the many businesses and individuals who have made or pledged their support, the dream is now a reality!
