This year, the Town of Drayton Valley, Eagle Point-Blue Rapids Parks Council and various clubs will host a full weekend of family themed activities on the Family Day weekend, from February 16 to 18! Spend your Family Day weekend close to home with so many activities and events happening right here in the Drayton Valley area. And remember to unplug!
Alberta Cup Races
Lots of Outdoor Family Activities Schedules for Family Day Weekend!
On February 16 and 17, you can head out to the Pembina Nordic Centre to watch Alberta Cup Nordic ski racing rounds 5, 6 and 7. The competition should be fierce and you’ll see some top athletes competing on the beautiful trails in Eagle Point Provincial Park! Race times will be posted on http://www.xcountryab.net/alberta-cups/ but you can plan to see the action from around 9:00 am to 4:00 pm on both days. This event is jointly hosted by Pembina Nordic Club and University of Alberta Nordic Club.
From February 16 to 18, weather permitting, head out to the Brazeau Ski Hill & Tube Park for an affordable downhill skiing, snowboarding or tubing adventure! For hockey fans, get some tickets for the DV Thunder vs. Lloydminster Bobcats game on February 16 at 7:30 pm at the Omniplex! A family of 4 can go for just $35! Get your tickets/more info at www.draytonvalleythunder.ca
Fire & Ice Festival
Eagle Point-Blue Rapids in conjunction with the Town of Drayton Valley, hosts our first Family Day Weekend Fire & Ice Festival at Downtown Park (across the street from the Civic Centre) on February 17, from 4:00 to 8:00 pm. There will be free hot dogs and burgers, hot chocolate, free skating, music and lights, and our feature performers from Indigo Circus, including Fire Artists and A Roving Ice Queen! *Park Valley Pool will offer free swimming from 1:00 to 4:00 pm for the first 100 participants!
*The Omniplex is providing free public skating from 1:00 to 4:00 pm!
Reid Law Snowshow/Hike on Family Day
If you’d like to spend Family Day in the woods, join Eagle Point-Blue Rapids Parks Council as we snowshoe through Eagle Point Provincial Park on the Rotary Pembina Community Trails South from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Snowshoes (a limited number), hot chocolate and treats are provided.
