Get your family outdoors on Family Day Weekend!
We’ve partnered with the Town of Drayton Valley to get you and your family outdoors, exploring the Drayton Valley area!
We’ve got 3 Scavenger Hunts that you can try with your family or cohort! Each hunt includes fun facts in the theme of the hunt.
Three levels of difficulty!
Three different trails!
You could win a Yeti cooler full of frozen treats on the Ice and Easy Scavenger Hunt!
You could win a Propane Fire Bowl with S’mores Kit on the intermediate Trial by Fire Scavenger Hunt!
You could win a Two Person Tent and Dinner for Two on the challenging Don’t Go Breaking my Heart Scavenger Hunt! This scavenger hunt features home made hearts hung in the woods along the trail and takes you down some steep parts so bring appropriate footwear or cleats if you do this challenge!
Even if you aren’t participating in the Scavenger Hunt, you can check out the Ice Sculptures in Discovery Park on the Family Day weekend as well! These sculptures are done by members of the Sculptors Association of Alberta.
Remember to follow Alberta’s COVID guidelines while you engage in these activities.

ICE & EASY SCAVENGER HUNT
Snow and ice themed fun facts for young families! Explore Discovery Park while reading the fun facts and gathering clues which will take you to your next stop! You will find your first clue beside Rotary House on 46 Avenue. This is an easy, paved walk for young families. Collect all 9 letters at each stop and unscramble them to spell your mystery word, then submit to us via email by Feb. 15 at 9:00 pm.
TRIAL BY FIRE SCAVENGER HUNT
Start this intermediate scavenger hunt at the Lions West Day Use Area. You can park in the Omniplex Parking Lot. We will lead you on a scavenger hunt all the way to Ivanto Park! This is an easy paved walk way but it’s further than the Ice and Easy Scavenger Hunt, so suitable for families with kids who don’t mind a walk. Collect letters at each stop, unscramble the mystery word (8 letters) and submit your answer by Feb. 15 at 9:00 pm via email.
DON’T GO BREAKING MY HEART
Valentines Scavenger Hunt! Find all the hand made hearts adorning the woods as you read fun facts about hearts and love on the Rotary-Pembina Community Trails South. This hunt is rated more difficult as you will be heading into Loop D which includes steep terrain – not suitable for the little ones. Make sure you bring appropriate footwear and dress for the weather! Cleats are recommended. Collect all the letters (14) at each stop, unscramble to spell the correct mystery word and submit your answers by email by Feb. 15 at 9:00 pm.
