Passion for En Plein Air: Oil or Acrylics
Join an award-winning artist Oksana Zhelisko for an enriching En Plein Air workshop, where you’ll learn to capture the beauty of nature on canvas using oils or acrylics.
What is En Plein Air?
En plein air is a style of painting done outdoors, where artists work on location to capture the natural light, colors, and atmosphere of a scene in real time. It’s all about connecting with the environment and translating what you see and feel onto the canvas. If you enjoy creating in nature, whether it’s fields, forests, cityscapes, or riverbanks, then this is for you!
It’s not just about painting the scene, but experiencing the environment while doing so.
Designed for all skill levels, this hands-on workshop will teach you essential plein air techniques, focusing on bold and loose brushwork, choosing a perfect composition, colour mixing and depict the perfect atmospheric light, with guidance tailored to your chosen medium.
Oksana will lead you through outdoor painting sessions in stunning locations of Drayton Valley, offering individual feedback and group critiques to help you refine your skills. You’ll learn how to tackle the challenges of painting outdoors, from working with natural light to managing the ever-changing environment, all while embracing loose, expressive brushstrokes to create dynamic compositions.
Bring your own materials and enjoy a creative, supportive atmosphere while painting directly from nature. This workshop is the perfect opportunity to enhance your plein air painting abilities and connect with fellow artists.
