DESCRIPTION:Our Eagle Point-Blue Rapids Parks Council Instructor is AIP Safety Certified.\nAll participants will receive a Wildlife Safety Certificate from AIP Safety Ltd. \nIf you spend time in the outdoors\, whether you’re working in the field\, hiking a trail\, camping with your family\, or leading a group\, you need to feel confident in country. Wildlife encounters are increasing across Western Canada. This doesn’t mean you should avoid the outdoors\, it means you need to understand it.  \nCourse Details\n\nDate: Wednesday\, May 6\, 2026\nTime: 8:00 am to Noon\nLocation: Pembina Nordic Centre\, Eagle Point Provincial Park\nSpots Available: 15\nRegistration Deadline: April 29\, 2026\nAges: 18 +\n\nWho Should Take It?\n\nIf you or your employees to train work in outdoor jobs close to bear and/or other wildlife habitats.\nIf you are an outdoor enthusiast who recreates in areas where wildlife encounters could occur (hunting\, fishing\, mountain biking\, hiking\, paddling\, camping\, ATVing\, etc.)\n\nThis course reflects the missions and goals of the Alberta BearSmart Program to keep people safe\, help bear populations survive and reduce property damage and costs by reducing human-bear conflict. \nWhat the Course Covers\n\nNatural History of Alberta’s Most Dangerous Wild Animals\nHuman-Bear Encounters\, Other Human-Wildlife Encounters & Conflicts\nAvoidance Measures\nDeterrents\nPractical Component (Participants will practice spraying inert bear spray)\n\nIMPORTANT\nParticipants must be physically fit and capable of moving freely in an outdoor environment to participate in this course. DESCRIPTION:Hello Birds!\nOur Hello Birds! Kick Off is  May 6th\, 2026.\nAs the migratory birds return\, Eagle Point-Blue Rapids Parks Council takes part in World Migratory Bird Day and Global Big Day\, a worldwide celebration of birds and community science that invites people of all experience levels to participate in a global bird counting event. Join Eagle Point Staffers for a short presentation on how to make the most of your birding experiences with checklists and cool smartphone apps.  We’ll discuss birding ethics and big days!  Meet like minded people in the area\, share your bird stories while enjoying snacks and refreshments! \nWe are excited to host a special guest speaker at this year’s kick off!\nJavan Green\, Wildlife Ecologist presents “Migratory Birds 101: Nests\, Surveys\, Protection\, and More.”  Javan  will dive into the world of migratory birds\, focusing on their many types of nests\, the surveys used to identify them\, and the regulations that protect them. With over 25 years as an avid birder and 14 years as a Professional Biologist\, Javan Green will share his experience conducting surveys\, locating hidden nests\, and navigating provincial and federal legislation. \nThe details:\nLocation: Pembina Nordic Centre\nDate: Tuesday\, May 6\, 2026\nTime: 5:30pm to 8:00pm \n\n5:30 – EPBR Staff will lead a short presentation on volunteering to count birds\, birding apps and birding ethics\n6:30 pm – Javan Green presents on “Migratory Birds 101: Nests\, Surveys\, Protection\, and More”.\n7:30pm – Short birding excursion on the trails if time allows\n\nSnacks and Refreshments included in the Free Event\nKids and youth are welcome to attend! \nRegister to attend Hello Birds! DESCRIPTION:Get Your Nature On! Let’s Go! \nGuardians of the Park Summer Day Camp invites kids aged 7 to 12 to immerse themselves in the great outdoors. Over four packed days\, kids will engage in an array of nature-based activities designed to spark their curiosity\, foster teamwork\, and create lasting memories. \nDaily Adventures Served Up!\nEach day\, kids will participate in a variety of activities which encourage kids to learn new skills\, gain confidence\, fall in love with the outdoors\, and embrace outdoor fun. Here are a few activities they will participate in: \n\nOrienteering Challenges: Find their way around the Pembina Nordic Trails with a compass.\nNature-Based Games: Engage in games and team-building activities inspired by nature.\nNature Crafts: Get creative with hands-on crafting activities using natural materials.\nBuilding Shelters: Learn how to construct shelters using natural materials found in the wilderness.\nExploring Nature Trails: Trek through scenic nature trails while learning about local flora and fauna.\nOutdoor Cooking: We have an outdoor cooking day to cook and sample fun campfire foods!\nOutdoor Science: We’ll hunt for butterflies and set a moth trap!\nGet Active: Team sports\, disc golf and fun team challenge activities in the great outdoors!\nTipi Time: We wind down in the tipi at the end of each day!\n\nAges 10 – 12 Additional Activities \n\nFishing!
