DESCRIPTION:One Day Fun Day: Forest Story Maker Experience\nJoin us for a magical day in the forest where Nature becomes your inspiration and imagination comes to life in your own handmade storybook! \nDate: August 5\, 2026Time: 9:00 AM – 4:00 PMAges: 9–16Cost: $75Location: 7010 Twp Rd 494\,  Pembina Nordic Centre\, near Drayton Valley \nCreate a Story Only You Can Tell\n \nEvery great story begins with inspiration. \nOn this unique One Day Fun Day\, storytellers will head into the forest on the Pembina Nordic trails\, where nature becomes the setting\, the characters\, and the spark for their imagination. \nThroughout the day\, you won’t just write a story\, you’ll build one from the ground up. \nEach participant will choose a miniature figure before crafting it a unique home using driftwood\, bark\, moss\, stones\, and other natural materials. Once their tiny world is complete\, we’ll hike together to find the perfect place in the forest to bring it to life. \nSurrounded by towering trees and inspired by the sights and sounds of nature\, campers will imagine adventures for their woodland character before creating their own handcrafted storybook to tell the tale. \nBy the end of the day\, everyone will head home with a one-of-a-kind keepsake featuring their handmade forest home\, original illustrations\, and a story that’s entirely their own. \n\n\n  \nWhat’s Included\nThroughout the day\, participants will: \n🌲 Choose their own character \n🏡 Build a miniature woodland home using driftwood and natural materials \n🥾 Hike into the forest to find the perfect storytelling setting \n📖 Create and bind their own handmade storybook \n🎨 Illustrate their story using watercolours \n✍️ Write an original adventure inspired by nature \n🍃 Explore\, create\, imagine\, and connect with the outdoors \nWhy Parents Love It\nForest Story Maker encourages: \n\nCreativity and imagination\nStorytelling and communication\nNature connection\nArtistic expression\nConfidence through creating something completely original\n\nEveryone leaves with a handcrafted project they’ll be proud to share with family and friends. \nWhat to Bring\n\nPacked lunch\nWater bottle\nClothes for the weather\nClosed-toe shoes or hiking shoes\nHat and sunscreen\n\n\nFrequently Asked Questions\n  \nWhat age is this program designed for?\nForest Story Maker is designed for youth ages 9–16. \nDoes my child need to enjoy writing?\nNot at all! \nThis experience is designed for creative kids of all kinds. Some love writing\, while others are inspired by building\, drawing\, or exploring. The story grows naturally from the miniature world they create. \nWill my child build something to take home?\nYes! \nEvery participant will take home: \n\nTheir handmade storybook\nTheir miniature woodland figure\nThe fairy or woodland home they build\nWatercolour artwork created throughout the day\n\nIs this an outdoor program?\nYes! Most of the day is spent outdoors exploring and creating. \nWhat if it rains?\nThe program runs rain or shine. \nWe’ll adjust activities as needed and make use of indoor spaces when necessary. \nAre all supplies included?\nYes! We’ll provide all craft materials\, art supplies\, natural building materials\, miniature figures\, and bookmaking supplies. \nDoes my child need hiking experience?\nNo! The walk is short and easy. We move at a relaxed pace with plenty of time to explore. \nWhat should my child wear?\nComfortable clothing suitable for spending the day outdoors\, along with sturdy closed-toe shoes.

This year\, we’re teaming up with Aim for Success once again to bring you and your family a night of glowing pumpkins\, spooky trails\, live music\, and more! \n \nEvent Highlights\n\nLive Band: Enjoy live music at an open-air style concert.\nStuff the Nature Navigator Van: Help us support the local food bank by bringing non-perishable food items into our new ride\, the Nature Navigator. Your donations make a big difference!\nPumpkin Carving Contest: Show off your pumpkin carving skills! Enter your carved pumpkins into our contest for a chance to win first\, second\, or third place.\nPumpkin Walk: Take a stroll through the trail lined with carved pumpkins.\nFood Trucks: Grab a bite to eat and enjoy tasty options from throughout the evening.\n\nJoin us as the trails come alive with carved pumpkins\, lantern-lit pathways\, and seasonal activities perfect for kids\, families\, grandparents\, photographers\, and anyone who loves fall. \n \nWhether you come for the atmosphere\, the outdoor adventure\, or simply to enjoy a beautiful evening in nature\, the Pumpkin Walk is quickly becoming one of our favourite community traditions in Central Alberta. \nThis event is designed to be welcoming for all ages and a wonderful way to celebrate the fall season outdoors. \nWe recommend bringing: \nWarm outdoor clothing\nComfortable walking shoes or boots\nA flashlight or headlamp \nOctober evenings can cool down quickly\, so dressing in layers is encouraged. \nRegistration Information\nNo registration is required for this free event. Please note parking may be limited at the Nordic Centre but overflow parking is available on the road. \nFrequently Asked Questions\nIs the Pumpkin Walk suitable for young children?\nYes! This is a family-focused event designed to be enjoyable for children of all ages. \nIs the trail stroller friendly?\nSome sections of the trail may be uneven due to natural terrain. We recommend sturdy strollers or wagons if bringing very young children. \nIs the event scary?\nNo. The Pumpkin Walk is intended to be fun\, cozy\, and family-friendly rather than frightening. \nCan I wear a costume?\nAbsolutely! Family-friendly costumes are encouraged. \nAre pets allowed?\nLeashed pets may be permitted depending on Alberta Parks regulations and trail conditions. Please check event updates closer to the date. \nWill the event happen if it rains or snows?\nThis is an outdoor fall event\, so please dress for the weather. In the case of severe weather conditions\, updates will be posted on EPBR social media channels and the website. \nIs there parking available?\nYes\, but parking may be limited during peak arrival times. Carpooling is encouraged whenever possible. \nWill there be food and drinks?\nWarm drinks and seasonal snacks may be available onsite.
