Snow conditions are fantastic and forecasted to stay optimal through until the Loppet!\n  \nIf you or your family or friends would like to participate\, ski distances are available for every level of touring\, recreational or competitive skier! A 1 or 2 km fun ski to a 5 and 10 km distance on fairly level ground for beginner to immediate skiers on our Ridge Trail\, to 15\, 30 and 45 km distances that use our entire trail system (including bi hills). \nJoin us for a great day of skiing and our signature chili for all registrants and volunteers. From live bats and snakes to moths and frogs\, the Eagle Point Moth Ball is a celebration of the creatures that come alive when the sun goes down. \nWhat You’ll Experience:\nLive Presentations – Get up close with expert presenters and meet some of their real-life creature companions! This year’s lineup includes: \n\nAlberta Lepidopterists’ Guild – Learn about this group of moth and butterfly enthusiasts and their important work across the province. They will also be the folks helping you ID months that end up in the live moth traps along the Pembina Nordic Trails.\nAlberta Community Bats – Discover what bat life is all about for Horhay Bats\, and meet Batsby\, a 4-year-old Hoary Bat (health permitting). Fun fact: Did you know Hoary Bats are the only bat species known to have made it to Hawaii on their own?\nAlberta Amphibian and Reptile Conservancy (AARC) – Say hello to a LIVE tiger salamander\, a wood frog\, and maybe even a garter snake! Learn about Alberta’s native herptiles and how these rescued animals came to be part of the AARC family. Fun fact: Did you know that Wood frogs can survive being frozen solid?!\nEdmonton and Area Land Trust\nNative Bee Council\n\nPlease note registration is required for these presentations due to limited space.  \nAfter-Dark Adventures – As the sun sets\, the fun continues! \n\nCampfire & Marshmallows\nMoth Light Sheets – Ever wonder how scientists study moths? Over four packed days\, kids will engage in an array of nature-based activities designed to spark their curiosity\, foster teamwork\, and create lasting memories. \nDaily Adventures Served Up!\nEach day\, kids will participate in a variety of activities which encourage kids to learn new skills\, gain confidence\, fall in love with the outdoors\, and embrace outdoor fun. Here are a few activities they will participate in: \n\nOrienteering Challenges: Find their way around the Pembina Nordic Trails with a compass.\nNature-Based Games: Engage in games and team-building activities inspired by nature.\nNature Crafts: Get creative with hands-on crafting activities using natural materials.\nBuilding Shelters: Learn how to construct shelters using natural materials found in the wilderness.\nExploring Nature Trails: Trek through scenic nature trails while learning about local flora and fauna.\nOutdoor Cooking: We have an outdoor cooking day to cook and sample fun campfire foods!\nOutdoor Science: We’ll hunt for butterflies and set a moth trap!\nGet Active: Team sports\, disc golf and fun team challenge activities in the great outdoors!\nTipi Time: We wind down in the tipi at the end of each day!\n\nAges 10 – 12 Additional Activities \n\nFishing!
