BOLD Nature Kids – A New Outdoor Program!
The Eagle Point-Blue Rapids Parks Council and Balance RT Consulting are providing parents a new opportunity in early childhood programming in Drayton Valley. BOLD NATURE KIDS is an outdoor, nature based program which delivers unique hands-on opportunity for young children to explore the natural world. BOLD stands for Balanced Outdoor Learning and Discovery. This program will provide children with large amounts of time in natural outdoor settings where they can learn, discover and explore. Parents with children ages three to five can enroll them in this innovative, 11 week pilot program.
Promoting Children’s Well-being
Jackie Greenlee, program facilitator explains, “the aim of this type of program is to work with children and youth over a period of time, to develop, maintain or improve physical, mental, social or emotional well-being. Our holistic approach to development encourages self- discovery and allows the opportunity for diverse learning styles. The use of our natural environment for learning and playing is complimentary to the traditional classroom and playground setting. It can make a significant contribution to their knowledge, awareness, and respect for the outdoors and their environment.”
Pembina Nordic Centre
B.O.L.D NATURE KIDS will be held at the Pembina Nordic Centre, just a few minutes from Drayton Valley. BOLD will make use of their extensive amenities, including the newly constructed Rotary-Pembina Nordic Outdoor Education Centre.
