The Management Plan addresses the current state of the natural landscape as it exists today and works to define future relationships between industry and recreational users throughout the area.
It illustrates a series of objectives that reflect the recreational and conservation interests of our community, industry representatives, and the Government of Alberta.
The Management Plan also serves to inspire the ethic in which the Eagle Point – Blue Rapids Park System was created: innovative ideas, environmental stewardship, and community collaboration.
The development of the Management Plan has been led by the Eagle Point – Blue Rapids Parks Council with guidance from the Government of Alberta. The content of the Management Plan has been created collaboratively through extensive consultation with target audiences, organizations, and members of the public.
The overall focus of the management objectives and strategies are:
• To work collaboratively to provide a diverse range of recreation opportunities.
• To conserve important natural and cultural values.
• To encourage a diverse range of recreation user groups to respectfully share available resources.
• To create learning and engagement materials, programs, and opportunities.
• To engage the local community in park opportunities including recreation and stewardship.
• To increase tourism opportunities in the area.
• To improve park management tools through research, monitoring, and adaptive management.
• To successfully co-exist with industry leaseholders.
• To bring enhanced safety to Eagle Point – Blue Rapid Park System users.
• To proactively manage the Park System by engaging in related local and regional planning issues.
• To find innovative ways to fund the Eagle Point – Blue Rapids Park System.
By providing feedback on the Management Plan, Albertans have had an opportunity to help shape the future direction of the Eagle Point – Blue Rapids Park System.
