The Eagle Point-Blue Rapids Parks Council is a non-profit organization that utilizes a creative approach towards innovative community-based park and recreation design, planning, funding and management.
The Parks Council is a collaborative multi-stakeholder organization, with representatives from local municipalities, volunteer-based recreation and service organizations, industry, an environmental organization and the Government of Alberta.
Together, the Parks Council envisions a sustainable balance of diverse recreation opportunities and environmental protection for all to enjoy in Eagle Point Provincial Park and Blue Rapids Provincial Recreation Area.
The Parks Council, together with the Government of Alberta and community members, will be working towards achieving the following broad goals from the Government of Alberta with respect to this unique part of the North Saskatchewan River Valley:
• Protect and restore the natural environments;
• Enhance the range, quality and safety of existing and new recreational opportunities;
• Create awareness about the environment, recreation and cultural heritage;
• Advance new tourism and economic development opportunities;
• Encourage cooperation and engagement of members of the community, stakeholders and interest groups, and;
• Ensure co-existence with existing resource industries such as oil and gas, and sand and gravel extraction.
